Delaware Valley University announced on Apr. 8 that its 25th annual Green & Gold Spring Spectacular Sale set a new record for gross sales and the highest individual cow price in the event’s history.

The milestone reflects both the growth of the student-run sale and its significance to alumni and students interested in the dairy industry. The event, held on March 28, brought together current students, alumni, and supporters at DelVal’s Equine Science Center.

A highlight of this year’s sale was Lot 6 MS Lamdba Silk-ET RC., which sold for $11,700—the highest price ever achieved at the event. The cow was consigned by Sanders & Raggi of Littlestown, Pennsylvania. Josh Sanders, a member of DelVal’s class of 2003 who helped organize the first sale 25 years ago, contributed to what organizers described as a full-circle moment for the program.

The overall gross sales reached $283,504 from a total of 86 lots sold. This surpassed last year’s previous record total of $212,190. The average per lot also increased to $3,297.

During the anniversary event, alumnus Tyler Coleman (class of ’16) was honored in memoriam. A scholarship calf consigned by Ethan Arsenault sold for $4,600 with proceeds going to benefit the Tyler D. Coleman Memorial Scholarship Fund; an additional $500 donation came from DelVal’s School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences.

Profits from the sale support Dairy Society—a club open to all students interested or involved in dairy—and are used to further educational opportunities within agriculture at Delaware Valley University. Student leaders Nellie Hankinson ’27, Caitlyn VanDeusen ’27, and Jacob VanDoren ’27 worked with members of Pennsylvania Holstein Association to organize this year’s auction.

Students thanked David J. Lentz (associate director of Pennsylvania Holstein Association) and Larry Swartz (auctioneer) “for their assistance and continued commitment to the success of the sale.”
