The keynote speaker for the event is Dr. Janet Sasson Edgette, a psychologist based in Exton, Pennsylvania. Dr. Edgette specializes in adolescent therapy, family therapy, and parent coaching. She has authored seven books, including her latest work, “Therapeutic Conversations with Adolescents: Helping Teens in Therapy Thrive in an Ultra-Competitive and Screen-Saturated World.” Her focus is on helping teenagers manage mental health challenges as they navigate a complex society.
Panelists joining the discussion include Heather Hopkins, Ed.D., Executive Director of Student Services at Centennial School District; Kim Porter, CFRS, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Be a Part of the Conversation; Neil Broxterman, Ed.D., Assistant Director of Student Services at North Penn School District; and Allison A. Buskirk-Cohen Ph.D., Director of the Honors Program and Psychology Professor at Delaware Valley University.
Tracey O’Neill, counseling psychology graduate assistant at Delaware Valley University, said: “Parents, educators and counselors have witnessed firsthand the stress and anxiety teens face across every aspect of their lives. Within Delaware Valley University’s Psychology Department, this shared concern prompted a unanimous decision on this year’s Spring Speaker Series topic. The goals of this presentation are to bring together parents and guardians, educators, mental health professionals and resource organizations, ensuring that everyone leaves with a clear sense of direction and practical resources to support young people during their critical transition from high school to adulthood.”
The event will also be available via livestream on YouTube at www.youtube.com/@DelawareValleyUniversity/streams for those unable to attend in person.
