Delaware Valley University’s Center for Learning in Retirement (CLR) will begin its spring courses on February 2. The program offers a range of classes designed for retired and semi-retired individuals, with options available in-person, online, or through hybrid formats.
One hybrid course offered this term is “Our Mind Matters: Caring for Mental Wellness From Covid and Beyond.” The seminar, led by Carrie Lettiere, examines the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health, especially among older adults. Lettiere will discuss ongoing challenges and share strategies to maintain well-being. The session is held on campus with an option to join via Zoom.
Online learners can enroll in “Garden Fun-damentals,” which covers topics such as plant selection, maintenance, and soil basics. The course is taught by Janice Jacobs, who has over forty years of gardening experience.
Among the in-person offerings is “Senior Fraud,” a seminar focused on educating participants about scams targeting senior citizens and ways to prevent fraud. Lauren Cronmiller leads this one-session class.
Course schedules vary; some meet weekly while others convene monthly or as single seminars. This flexibility allows members to select courses that fit their availability.
The CLR has provided peer-led educational opportunities for nearly four decades. Membership costs $50 per season and allows unlimited course registrations on a first-come, first-served basis.
Those interested can register at delval.edu/CLR.
