More than $206,000 in state grant funding has been allocated to fire companies and emergency medical services organizations serving Pennsylvania’s 143rd Legislative District, according to an announcement by Rep. Shelby Labs (R-Bucks).

The grants were distributed through the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program. This program was established by the General Assembly to support local emergency response organizations across Pennsylvania and is administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency along with the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.

“Local fire and EMS companies form the backbone of public safety in our communities,” said Labs. “These grants will help the organizations serving our district continue upgrading equipment, supporting training and meeting the everyday demands of emergency response. I am grateful for the work they do and pleased to see this funding come back to our area.”

Grant funds can be used for various purposes including facility construction or renovation, equipment purchase or repair, training programs, recruitment and retention initiatives, public education efforts, and debt reduction. The funding comes from slot machine gaming revenue rather than General Fund tax dollars.

The following organizations received grants:
– Central Bucks Ambulance & Rescue Unit: $15,000
– Chalfont Chemical Fire Engine Company No. 1: $16,136
– Delaware Valley Volunteer Fire Company: $14,075
– Doylestown Fire Company No. 1: $15,518
– Dublin Volunteer Fire Company: $14,487
– Hilltown Township Volunteer Fire Company: $16,136
– Palisades Regional Fire Rescue: $40,136
– Plumsteadville Volunteer Fire Company: $15,000
– Point Pleasant Fire Company No. 1: $13,250
– Point Pleasant Plumsteadville EMS: $15,000
– Sellersville Fire Department: $16,136
– Silverdale Volunteer Fire Company: $15,312

Labs represents the 143rd Legislative District in Pennsylvania and serves on committees such as Human Services and Transportation. She holds a degree from Temple University and graduated from Central Bucks High School West. She resides in Plumsteadville with her husband and two daughters (official website).
