Rolling Harvest Food Rescue has received a grant of just over $9,000 from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s Food Recovery Infrastructure Program. The funds will be used to purchase a new CoolBot cold storage unit for the organization’s “Grow to Give” farm locations in Pipersville, Bucks County.
According to Rep. Shelby Labs (R-Bucks), the additional cold storage capacity will help Rolling Harvest Food Rescue preserve more fresh produce and increase its ability to serve local residents facing food insecurity. “Rolling Harvest Food Rescue plays an important role in connecting fresh, locally grown food with families who need it,” said Labs. “Expanding cold storage capacity will help reduce food waste and increase access to healthy produce for residents across Bucks County.”
Rolling Harvest Food Rescue distributes donated fresh produce to hunger relief sites throughout Bucks County, serving individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.
Rep. Labs has represented the 143rd Legislative District since January 2021 and is a member of committees such as Human Services and Transportation, according to her official website. She resides with her husband and two daughters in Plumsteadville and graduated from Central Bucks High School West before earning a degree from Temple University. Her work focuses on serving constituents through committee assignments and supporting community initiatives.
The Food Recovery Infrastructure Program aims to improve food recovery systems, reduce waste, and expand access to nutritious food for communities in need.
