Today, Representative Shelby Labs from Bucks County announced that the House unanimously approved House Bill 923. The bill proposes an extension of the current Social Security COLA moratorium for PACE and PACENET until December 31, 2027.
PACE and PACENET are Pennsylvania’s prescription drug assistance programs designed to support seniors by providing medications. These programs currently benefit more than 250,000 elderly residents of Pennsylvania.
Rep. Shelby Labs stated, “By extending the moratorium, 10,039 PACENET enrollees will keep their coverage. Additionally, 12,594 PACE enrollees will not move to PACENET, and will not risk losing their lower copayment and their PACE-paid Part D premium.” Labs highlighted the importance of collaborating with Rep. Nikki Rivera from Lancaster, explaining, “With the current moratorium scheduled to expire on Dec. 31, 2025, I was proud to work with my colleague, Rep. Nikki Rivera, to ensure this moratorium is extended so those enrolled would not lose their access to low-cost medications.”
Following its passage in the House, House Bill 923 now awaits consideration in the Senate.
