Mercer Museum And Fonthill Castle issued the following announcement on Dec. 24.
Did you know that Henry Mercer’s tiles can be found in buildings across the country? In 1922 the Portage Country Club in Akron, Ohio ordered what is referred to as the "New World'' design for their fireplace. This drawing shows how the tiles were supposed to be arranged when installed. At the time, the tiles cost a total of $69.20.
Did you know the Mercer Museum Research Library is home to the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works records? These records include ledgers, drawings, and correspondence related to the beautiful tiles created by the Tile Works.
