Vaccination Rate for Bucks Employees Exceeds 90 Percent After Mandate

Vaccination

County of Bucks  issued the following announcement on Nov. 10.

With all vaccine mandate deadlines now passed, 91 percent of Bucks County employees report being vaccinated against COVID-19.

Of the county’s 2,555 employees, 2,323 had submitted documentation as of Wednesday showing they had received a COVID vaccine.

The county has issued 211 exemptions to employees who requested them for either medical or religious reasons. Those who received exemptions, will be tested weekly for COVID-19. Vaccination status is pending for 21 employees, such as those on extended leave, whose present circumstances do not immediately require vaccination or an exemption.

No county workers were released from employment for non-compliance with the mandate.

“As we’ve seen around the country, vaccine mandates not only work, but set a good example,” said Commissioners Chair Diane Ellis-Marseglia. “For the commissioners and the county workforce, it is a privilege to serve our community, and it is our duty to keep our residents safe.

“We are immensely proud that 91 percent of our county staff got fully vaccinated,” she said. “If we could hit those numbers with the rest of the population, we’d be out of this pandemic and back to normal.”

The commissioners, together with the county court system, issued the mandate in late August in a bipartisan move to protect the county’s employees, their families and the public. Employees had until Oct. 29 to get fully vaccinated.

Vaccinated employees will be granted an additional day off and a gift card after vaccination information is verified.
