Bucks Issues Excessive Heat Warning in Response to Extreme Heat

An Excessive Heat Warning will be in effect from 10 a.m. through Thursday evening in Bucks County.

With temperatures forecast in the mid-90s and heat indexes expected to exceed 100 degrees, cooling centers will be open Wednesday and Thursday to seniors and people experiencing homelessness who are seeking refuge from the extreme heat.

The following locations will operate from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. as cooling centers for seniors and people experiencing homelessness:

Senior centers throughout Bucks County also are open and available daily to residents 55 and over. Check with your local senior center for hours of operation and details. 

The county issues an Excessive Heat Warning when the National Weather Service forecasts daytime temperatures will reach 95 degrees by 11 a.m. on two or more consecutive days, or when heat indexes will reach 100 degrees on any given day.

This is the county’s first Excessive Heat declaration under a plan developed by county Emergency Services and the Health Department with assistance from the Department of Housing and Community Development and the Area Agency on Aging.
