On April 25, 2024, Rep. Shelby Labs (R-Bucks) made an announcement regarding the Bedminster Township Police Department receiving a $200,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program (SCIP).
The grant from SCIP is intended to support the implementation of state crisis intervention court proceedings and related programs and interventions. Specifically, the funding will be utilized to expand the department’s Civilian Community Relations Specialist Program into Perkasie Borough. This expansion will involve hiring a full-time employee in Perkasie to provide victim services, crisis intervention, and conduct various crime prevention programs.
In expressing his support for the grant funding, Rep. Shelby Labs stated, "I was happy to support Bedminster Township Police Department in seeking this grant funding." He further highlighted the significance of the expansion by noting, “Not only will it expand their existing program, it will allow them to implement the program with Perkasie Borough so they can also receive the benefits the Civilian Community Relations Specialist Program has brought to Bedminster.”
This initiative represents a collaborative effort to enhance community relations, victim support, and crime prevention efforts within Bedminster Township and now extending into Perkasie Borough. The grant funding is poised to make a positive impact on the communities involved, thanks to the support and advocacy of Rep. Shelby Labs.
