Rep. Shelby Labs, Sen. Jarrett Coleman, and Perkasie Borough have announced a significant grant from the Pennsylvania Local Share Account (LSA) program to support local projects. The funding will be used for the development of Kulp Park and the acquisition of body and in-car cameras for the Perkasie Police Department.

Perkasie will receive $652,886 for improvements at Kulp Park. The project aims to address drainage issues on the baseball field, recycle existing infrastructure like backstops and fencing, and update field lighting. Additional enhancements include ADA-compliant parking spaces and a path connecting these spaces to the baseball field. These changes are expected to improve safety, reduce light pollution, and enhance usability after rain.

In addition to park improvements, Perkasie Borough was awarded $107,415 for purchasing 19 body cameras and 12 in-car cameras for its police force.

“We are incredibly grateful for this grant funding," said James Ryder, President of Perkasie Borough Council. "Kulp Park has been a cherished part of our community... This is a big win for our community.”

Chuck Brooks, Vice President of Perkasie Borough Council, emphasized the importance of equipping officers with modern technology: “We are deeply grateful to Rep. Labs and Sen. Coleman... Their commitment to our community has been instrumental in making these important projects a reality.”

Rep. Shelby Labs expressed her support: “I am proud to have supported these initiatives... This will allow the borough to complete necessary rehabilitations...”

Senator Jarrett Coleman added his perspective as a parent: “The upgrades to Kulp Park will ensure that it can remain a focal point of the community... Our investment in the Perkasie Police Department will help them meet... challenges they face in the line of duty.”

These grants are made possible through funds distributed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority under Act 2004-71.
