Reps. Craig Staats, Shelby Labs, and Donna Scheuren announced that PENNVEST has awarded a $9.8 million grant to the Telford Borough Authority for a drinking water well development project. The initiative will involve installing granular-activated carbon filter vessels for PFAS treatment in drinking water wells located in Telford Borough, West Rockhill Township, and Hilltown Township.
Each of the five systems will require construction of a freestanding building or an addition at each well to house the vessels, along with the installation of necessary accessories.
“It is incredible to see PENNVEST approve this necessary funding for the Telford Borough Authority,” said Staats. “This will not only improve the quality of my constituents' drinking water in Telford and West Rockhill but make the system run more efficiently as well.”
Labs added, “I’m happy to support continued investments in infrastructure that improves our water quality. This project will have a direct impact on residents of Hilltown Township that are serviced by the Telford Borough Authority.”
Scheuren expressed her satisfaction: “I am thrilled to see this vital funding come through for Telford Borough. My constituents on the Montgomery side of Telford Borough will be the ones benefitting from this crucial project. For upon completion of these vessels, it will offer technological advances in filtration, additional peace of mind to all the residents regarding their drinking water, and enhance the Indian Valley’s reputation even more, as one of the most desirable places to live.”
PENNVEST provides low-cost financial assistance for addressing issues related to water, wastewater, stormwater, and non-point source pollution affecting public health and safety.
