Genbusiness001

County of Bucks issued the following announcement on Apr. 20.

The Bucks County Suicide Prevention Task Force invites you to come out May 1 for the Hold On You Matter Walk to Make a Difference, an inspiring community event to raise awareness of suicide and supporting prevention.

The family friendly 5K will be held this year at Bucks County Technical High School, located at 610 Wistar Road, Fairless Hills.

Pre-registration is open until April 29 at HoldOnYouMatter.com. Registration will also be available on the day of the event, beginning at 9 a.m.

The annual Hold on You Matter Walk to Make a Difference brings hope to Bucks County residents, and works to educate residents on depression and mental health, reduce the related stigmatization, encourage seeking assistance and improve access to services.

Join your family, friends and neighbors in fundraising, and walking, to raise awareness and support the work that saves lives! Walk to Make a Difference brings together local school districts, mental health providers, vendors and local representatives to support suicide prevention efforts and break the stigma. Join a team, create your own, or even just donate to help fund this year's campaign.

The Bucks County Suicide Prevention Task Force was created and endorsed by the Bucks County Commissioners in 2013 to support those who have lost loved ones to suicide, increase the number of people seeking help (instead of suicide), reduce the stigma of depression and other mental health issues, as well as the stigma for getting help for those issues and to decrease the rate of suicide in Bucks County. Over the past decade, the Task Force has been steered by an enthusiastic association of volunteers, advocates and professionals from varied backgrounds and diverse experiences, all of whom are committed to decreasing suicide rates and stigma through education and public awareness.
